What is the Outsourced Chief Sustainability Officer (OCSO) service?
We partner your business with an experienced sustainability professional to provide ongoing advice and support in all aspects of sustainability, including:
- Building a credible roadmap to net zero
- Developing and embedding a sustainability strategy (covering all aspects of ESG)
- Acting as a critical friend to the board
- Preparing the business for mandatory reporting
Who is this for?
The OCSO service is designed for growing and established mid market businesses that want to make progress on sustainability but don't yet want, need, or can't find, a full-time Sustainability Director or Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO).
How is this different to hiring a consultant?
We provide ongoing expert sustainability advice and guidance as you need it - this is not project based. Crucially, we become part of your business - we are not consultants trying to upsell you more work - we are on your side, working with you. Read more about our team here.
How does it work?
One of our sustainability experts becomes part of your leadership team on a fractional basis to develop and drive your sustainability strategy.
A fractional leader is one who divides their time between several businesses, providing each business with top-level expertise for a fraction of the price. Fractional is also known as on-demand, part-time, plural, or portfolio.

Every OCSO is hand-picked because they have 20+ years of experience and a broad knowledge of sustainability across different sectors.
